Q. Is Hermitage in Roanoke an accredited retirement community?
A. Hermitage in Roanoke is accredited by CARF-CCAC ( Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission).
CARF-CCAC accreditation is widely regarded as a "seal of approval" for retirement communities. A service provider begins the accreditation process with an internal examination of its programs and business practices. Then the provider requests an on-site survey that will be conducted by a team of expert practitioners selected by CARF. During the survey, the provider must demonstrate that it conforms to a series of rigorous and internationally recognized CARF standards.
Based on the results of the survey, CARF prepares a written report of the provider's strengths and areas for improvement. If a provider has sufficiently demonstrated it conforms to the standards, it earns CARF accreditation.
Q. If I carry Medicare and a Medicare supplement policy, what benefits would this offer me at Hermitage in Roanoke?
A. Hermitage in Roanoke requires all residents carry Medicare and a Medicare Supplement policy or equivalent. As a federal medical health insurance program, Medicare will help defray costs associated with physicians and hospital stays; however, Hermitage in Roanoke is not a certified Medicare health facility, so your Medicare benefits will not cover the monthly cost of your room and board in Health Services.
Q. Does Hermitage in Roanoke take auxiliary grants?
A. No. Hermitage in Roanoke is a private pay community, meaning residents must have financial resources to live here. As part of the application process, the future resident submits a confidential financial application for approval.
Q. Does Hermitage in Roanoke charge an entrance fee?
A. No! While many continuing care retirement communities require substantial entrance fees, Hermitage in Roanoke requires only a small non-refundable community fee of $1,000 upon move-in for independent or assisted living. The community fee is used to refurbish apartments when they are vacated and for maintaining common areas of the building.
Q. How does my Long Term Care Insurance policy work with your community?
A. Most Long Term Care Insurance policies pay a daily reimbursement amount for Assisted Living or Nursing Care for the cost of care up to a daily or monthly maximum. You will need to review the terms of your policy to see what the requirements are to qualify for the benefit. We will assist you in filing any necessary paperwork/billing information that your provider requires.
Q. Does Hermitage in Roanoke accept Medicaid?
A. No. Medicaid is a State and Federal program that will pay most nursing home costs for individuals with limited income and assets. We are not a Medicaid approved community.
