Assisted Living FAQ
How do you determine my level of care?
As part of the application process your physician will complete a Health and Physical form with complete information about your medical history. Our Director of Nursing will meet with you to review your health and determine the level of care you require. Our goal is to have each of our retirement community residents be as independent as possible, and care needs are re-assessed on an as needed basis.
Should I bring my own furniture in Assisted Living?
Absolutely. You will want to have your own bed, favorite comfortable chair and other pieces depending on the size of the room you select.
Can I bring my own medications?
The Director of Nursing will determine your ability to administer your own medications as part of the assessment process.
Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?
Medicare provides no reimbursement for assisted living or intermediate level nursing care. Our residents are “private pay” meaning they are paying for care out of their own resources. We do not accept Medicaid.
Do you accept Long Term Care Insurance?
Yes. Typically the resident or a family member files for reimbursement and receives the check directly from the insurance company. Our social worker can help with the filing if necessary.
Do you offer a rehabilitation program?
Yes. Many of our retirement community residents benefit from physical, occupational or speech therapy to enhance their quality of living. Therapy can take place in our well equipped therapy center or your residence, depending on your needs. Our therapy team typically assesses a new resident for opportunities for improvement. Therapy is usually billed through Medicare Part B.
What is the application process?
Each resident completes an application with background information as well as financial information. Next, your physician completes the Health and Physical form with your medical history. Once our Director of Nursing receives the H and P, she meets with you to assess your level of care. This information must be completed within a 30 day window of admission. A PPD or chest x-ray.
