What types of contracts are offered at Roanoke United Methodist Home?
We offer a Monthly Lease plan, which does not require any entrance fee, only a monthly fee. We also offer Daily Rate plans, just perfect for a respite stay or any stay in our Health Care Center.
Do you offer a Wellness Program?
We offer a comprehensive Wellness Program including a Wellness Center, which is available to all of our residents, and used primarily by our Independent Living Residents. Our wellness program offers blood sugar clinics, blood pressure clinics, special seminars on health related topics, and even private consultations with our Wellness Nurse. Other programs include Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi and exercise classes, Aerobics, and a Walking Club, utilizing our beautiful walking trails on our manicured grounds.
Our Chaplain plays an important role in the spiritual lives of our residents and their families. We offer interdenominational Bible study, Vespers, and worship services. We are also fortunate to have a number of volunteers from local United Methodist Churches, who support our community in so many ways.
Who is eligible for residence at Roanoke United Methodist Home?
People of all faiths who are 62 years of age or older may be accepted for admission into our retirement community.
What transportation is available?
The community maintains a van to provide residents with scheduled transportation to shopping malls, churches, banks, and physician offices. A bus is also available for our social outings. A calendar listing these events is published monthly.
What Health Services are provided at RUMH?
The community’s Health Care Center is licensed as a nursing home. A registered nurse supervises Assisted Living and Health Care and a medical director who visits his patients weekly is on call 24 hours a day. Lab services, mobile x-ray and services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are offered on site as well. We also have a podiatrist and, audiologist who provide services on site monthly. Many of these additional services can be billed to Medicare Part B.
Should I maintain hospitalization insurance?
Yes. Surgery and other major illnesses can be covered by this insurance. Medicare Part B can also be helpful in meeting these costs.
Are direct admissions to assisted living and healthcare possible?
Yes. We also offer Respite Care should you have a short-term need during a time of illness or during a caregiver’s vacation.
