Independent Living
Now you can enjoy independent living without the worry of yard work and maintenance, but with the security and services that the Roanoke United Methodist Home retirement community provides.
You’ll love the sweeping views from your Country Club Residence – across the golf course to the view of the mountains in the background. Enjoy the change of seasons without raking leaves or shoveling snow.
Come explore the independent living and convenience of our spacious two-bedroom Country Club Residences – with private patios or decks. Each features a sunny eat-in kitchen and living room as well as a fully equipped laundry room. Bring your favorite pieces of furniture to make your new home cozy and inviting.
Dining options are as varied as your tastes. Prepare your meals in your own fully-equipped kitchen, or choose to enjoy one meal a day, breakfast, lunch or dinner in our dining room in the main building.
Plus, participate in our social, cultural, spiritual and recreational activities. Take one of our day trips or shorter excursions to the farmer’s market or Red Sox game, enjoy a movie on campus or at the local cinema, join in the fun for brain ticklers, treat yourself to our weekly breakfast or dinner outings, or try one of our Arthritis Foundation exercise or Tai Chi classes. Plan to attend special entertainment like pianist David Wiley, the conductor for the Roanoke Symphony or singing group from the community. We offer weekly Vespers services and Bible Study along with special seasonal services, for example, Lent, that tie in to the Methodist church calendar. You will enjoy the convenience of our senior equipped van and bus when taking a day trip planned activity or need medical transportation to a medical appointment.
Above all, enjoy the peace of mind of knowing our staff is close by to help whether you visit the wellness center for a blood pressure check, activate the emergency pull cord in your bathroom, or use the nurse call system. Peace of mind for you AND your loved ones!

“RUMH is an amazing place. When the weather this winter was foul, our dinners were delivered. What a gift to not have to shovel snow or even “salt” the walkway. The medical alert system is full-time, safety features abound, we can have transportation to medical appointments, shopping and special events. The dining room caters to food allergies and needs. We could not ask for a better place to be. The grounds are beautiful, the facilities are up-to-date and the personnel are knowledgeable, experienced, caring and aware. There is a family-like atmosphere with many optional activities designed for physical and mental retention and improvement. The calendar is quite full and we can participate as desired!”
